Lily Elston-Leadbetter
Lily is a PhD candidate at UQ and this is her fourth year as part of the editorial team. Her thesis investigates how classical Husserlian phenomenology intersects with contemporary critical approaches, and she analyses women’s experiences with the goal of expanding access to reproductive healthcare. Her research interests include, but are not limited to, phenomenology, ethics, and critical theory. When she’s (rarely) not thinking about her thesis she is reading, sketching, or doing pottery.
Associate Editor
Jacob Ritz
Jacob is a PhD student in the School of Languages and Cultures and a casual academic in mathematics and German studies at UQ. He is also an editor for the Undergraduate Philosophy Journal of Australasia (UPJA). His research interests concern the history of nineteenth- to twenty-first-century French and German philosophy. His PhD thesis develops an intellectual history of Alain Badiou’s philosophy, examining how it is informed by nineteenth- and twentieth-century German metaphysics.

Liv is currently studying a Bachelor of Advanced Humanities at UQ, with a double major in Literature and Philosophy. She is primarily interested in twentieth-century French philosophy, literary theory, and queer theory, and spends far too much time thinking about time.

Georgia Farmer (she/her)
Georgia is a third-year Bachelor of Arts student, majoring in English Literature and Philosophy. She was told as a child that she should be a lawyer since she liked to argue so much and decided to prove her parents wrong by studying philosophy instead. Georgia enjoys examining the intersections of literature and philosophy and is particularly interested in the effect of AI on how we think about both.
Riley Walker
Riley is studying a Bachelor of Advanced Humanities, majoring in Philosophy. This year he is preparing for his Honours in 2027. Riley’s interests in philosophy include existentialism, aesthetics, and art.
Victoria Lawson
Victoria is currently applying for a Master’s having achieved a First-Class Honours in philosophy at UQ on Australian ecofeminist philosopher Val Plumwood. Her interests include environmental philosophy, conspiracy thinking and ancient history.
Melinda Herman
Melinda is completing an Honours in Philosophy at UQ, following an Extended
Major in Philosophy as part of her Bachelor of Advanced Humanities. Her
philosophical interests include the philosophy of language, metaphysics, new
materialism, as well as Kant studies, and her Honours thesis aims to combine
as many of these as possible by analysing the implications of Karen Barad’s
agential realism for linguistic debates around fiction and its corresponding
ontology. Melinda is a current recipient of the Vincent and Carmel Forgione
Memorial Scholarship in Philosophy, and the 2025 Paul McLean Prize in
Logic.
